How long do you want it to last? S70

My '98 is up to 132,000 miles and generally the things break as predicted, about like clockwork, and as per Kino's survery on the 850-SVC70.

I think a common mistake people make is thinking that Volvos are nearly as bulletproof as the Japanese makes. They're not, but Volvos also offer (or offered in the past) some things unavailable on the Japanese cars. Volvos cost money to keep running like any other European brand. So I wouldn't skimp on maintenance. I've found an independent Volvo shop that's both more competent and cheaper than my dealer. IMO Volvo hasn't nearly lived up to expectations but it's not bad enough for me to dump it before I reach my goal of at least 150,000 miles. 58,000 miles is hardly anything today, even for a Hyundai. If it were my car I'd keep it, fix it and maintain it. But I wouldn't buy another one.
