PNP Switch 850 1995

The real name for the switch is "Neutral Safety Switch" or "Gear Position Switch"
It lets the ECM and transmission know what gear the transmission is in and if it is not in either park or neutral the engine will not crank. There are 4-5 switches in the assembly. The contact springs get gummed up with dried out greese and intermittent contact results. The switch can be carefully dissembled, cleaned, relubricated, and reassembled if you are inclined to do so.
The switch is available through AutoZone.com or can be ordered at teh stores for 75% less than Volvo dealer prics. ($54)
