850 power steering pump leak

Pete,

Great suggestion about cleaning with brake cleaner. I never thought of that, I guess because it's brake cleaner. Duh!

Long story short, it's not leaking from the hose connections. I can't find a leak anywhere that is visible, yet the PS fluid is still soaking the front of the engine, enough that the reservoir goes from full to empty in about 100 miles.

This leaves me thinking it's leaking from the shaft seal. Can this be replaced at home? I found PS pump rebuild kits for 240's on the web but can't find any for 850's. I don't necessarily want to rebuild the whole pump, just replace the seal if I can find a new one.

Also, is a rebuild not worth the trouble - like the pump is on its way out anyway?

Thanks for the help, saved me a lot of trouble messing with the wrong solution,

Terry
