well it doesnt sound ceased or anything. and doesnt sound like you are in in too much trouble. the car still turns over. Replace the oil cap and change the oil. Flametrap if non turbo. Check all ignition electricals such as spark splugs rotors distributer and so on. check fuel pump relay. check any codes that might have come up.
Good luck.. sounds like a blown gasket on the valve cover.
