Hi,
Another rant about Volvo dealer service(or lack of!!). After driving Volvo`s for 32 years My wife bought an 95 850 3 years ago which until recently has been very reliable & fun to drive. WE have encountered a series of fairly expensive repairs but the real issue here is dealer service. The car has been in for service & 3 times the car has not been repaired correctly resulting in expensive towing( we live 50 miles from the dealer). In the first instance the service mgr conceded that the tech had not fully completed the repair work & adjusted the bill. The next incident was installation of a new rad & subsequent overheating problems(none had existed before) the very next day. No dealer accountability on that issue but more $ spent. The latest was a random "no start problem", service rep told my wife that it was a ignition switch so we had it replaced. Next day the car would not start so battery was replaced but still, no start. Finally, at a cost of $450 the PNP switch was replaced. So, several hundred dollars later the car is finally starting.
The response from the service mgr on the ign switch was that my wife had requested the switch be replaced. Yes but only after she was assured that was the problem(she`s no mechanic!!). Re: the battery, the response was that they were trying the least expensive route. What? Are they guessing at diagnosing problems? The discussion centered on the poor service & not the fact that the car has repair issues which can be expected on a vehicle that is 8 yrs old & now has 192000 on the odometer.
This dealer is the "only game in town" & indie shops really don`t want to look at Volvo`s.
What would you do in my situation? WE love Volvo`s but this is becoming extremely frustrating. It`s not a money issue over repairs but we feel a service issue. My wife refuses to EVER take her car back to the dealer!
Thanks,
Rich
