$900 for a set of self-leveling shocks?? Help, please! 850

Phoned Volvo in Houston (1-800-468-0041) that have the cheapest parts prices I have found to date, and was told a set of self-leveling shocks for my 97 850 wagon would cost around $900. Several years ago I talked with Volvo about the self-leveling system they offered as an accessory when you were towing a heavy load, and at that time I recall a figure that was several hundred dollars. Nothing at all like the above figure. Additionally, they said the dash switch space just to the left of the steering column was reserved for this accessory. You could switch it on/off. The self-leveling shocks though, did not need to be switched on or off. Could somebody help me out please, and let me know what the old system was/is called, whether still available, and, failing that, if there is a cheaper source than Volvo for those self-leveling shocks. Many thanks in advance for any help.
