random loss of power S70 1998

I have chasing this problem for a year and a half. Sometimes the car runs fine. Sometimes it will only stay running at high speed (>75 mph). Check engine light is on but has been on for 3 years. I'm not sure problems are related. In the last three weeks, I've had both O2 sensors changed (with wiring harnesses) and the mass air meter. I've spent about $1500 and nothing has changed. Does anybody have any ideas? If it was an old car, I'd guess that either engine spark becomes intermittant or fuel pressure drops. But everyone seems to think that it's in the electronics. I'm not so sure.
