Our '86 744 turbo was totaled by a drunk driver - hit the driver's door after running a red light - the EMTs and the emergency room staff could not believe that my daughter was not hurt. None of the other three in the car were hurt either.

Our '90 745 GLE was a junk - the people that I got it from treated it properly, but the car's first owner probably never maintained it. I did not have the car looked at by a good tech, my mistake. Sold the car at a fair price, buy we put too much money into it!

The rest of out bricks have served us well. Our '90 744 TI has 230,000 miles on it, and I'll drive it on a trip tomorrow, all 4 of our drivers still enjoy driving this car.

What one must keep in mind is that this 14 year old car cost over 26 thousand, new, when a Chevrolet Caprice 4-door was 16 thousand. Our car has heated leather seats, air bag, ABS, real nice paint and no rust. Parts and service for a fine car such as this are expensive if you have to pay full freight.

If you can find a well-maintained brick, and save some money by doing some stuff yourself, you should love your brick as we do ours.

Good luck
