trip odometer turning over too fast....HELP 850 1996

Just found out that someone was selling "odometer gear for Volvo 850" on ebay, for US$20 - expires on 1/4/2004. The seller claimed that "Normally, the gear got worn around 50,000-70,000 miles. It "WILL" worn sometime alone the way. Or you accidentally reset the clock while the car is running. All 850 drivers had experienced or heard of this problem."

Don't know what it is, but perhaps you would like to try it and let us know if that solves the problem?
