Rear Electronics Module S80 2000

Hello again,

I wrote earlier about some of my accessories not working:

Lower Brake Lights, Reverse Lights, Rear Fog Lamp, Trunk Lights, Trunk Release,
Rear Door Power Locks, Rear Seat Headrest Release, and Fuel Gauge.

I tried to reset my Rear Electronics Module by removing and replacing the fuse.

That didn't work.

It was suggested that I go to the dealer and request a software update.

They tried, but said, "They couldn't communicate with the module, and it needed to be replaced".

Total: $735.00 ($375.00 in parts, and 4 hours labor($360.00))

I have heard nothing but bad things about this dealer.

Does this sound right; could it be a wiring problem to the module?

Could I replace the module and then have the software installed?
