Rear Electronics Module S80 2000

They are probably correct, especially if Vadis can't communicate with that module and no, it's not a wiring problem nor uncommon.
As for rumors about dealers, these days it's more that the cars are the problems, not so much always the fault of those who are trying to fix them. Todays Volvos and especially any '99 S80 have alot to be desired, especially as far as electronics are concerned.
