Compass mirror 850

Wired in a Volvo self-dimming mirror, but not the one you're talking about. Check the post "Homelink visor for my 850", second one down for how to install the Volvo model (Dick/Lloyd same person). The mirror was made for the 70 series car, but fits perfectly on all 850 models. I think you might have a problem installing an aftermarket product. Volvo of Houston (1-800-468-0041) sold me mine several years ago for around $80. I'm sure it's a bit more today. I really like the self-dimming mirror because it removes a lot of eyestrain at night and you're not having to reach up or take your eyes off the road for a second to flip it down. A very worthwhile investment. That, and the backup radar. Dick

P.S. If the aftermarket mirror fits, you shouldn't have a problem connecting it to the power in the visor. The Volvo mirror has three wires--power, ground, and one for turning off the mirror when you back up so the backup lights won't make the mirror dim. This third wire is connected under the dash to the wire supplying power to the backup lights. As soon as you put the car in reverse the power from the backup lights will turn the mirror off so it won't dim and you can see better where you're backing to.
