Software is typically not sold; it is licensed. When you buy software
you purchase a license to use it. For commercial software (as opposed
to consumer software) the license is most often not transferable. A
sure way to tell would be to check the copyright notice that comes
with most software (I assume VADIS has this notice somewhere).
