Battery problems 850 1997

If it won't do ANYTHING after installing a new battery, it is possible that you have the battery cables on the wrong posts, in other words, you have connected the positive terminal to ground. If that is the case I wouldn't like to think what it might have done to the sensitive computer and electronics.
Looking down on the battery, the positive cable is the one nearest the engine. The positive battery post will be a bit larger than the negative one, and should have been placed so it is closest to the engine. Both terminals should be toward the back of the car. It is possible to get a battery with the posts in just the opposite positions.
