Can I put 15' wheels on a V70 awd??? V70-XC70 1998

I bought a '98 V70 awd; thanks for the input from all who helped!? I am going to put snow tires on for our Vermont winter, and I wish to put them on steel wheels. Our local tire store checked their info and said that 15" steel wheels should be fine, even though the car came from the factory w/205/55-16 on, obviously, 16" wheels. However, I've been told that 15" wheels might interfere with the brakes. Adding to the confusion is the fact that the V70 GLT from that year comes with 15" wheels. What's the story? Are the brakes on the V70 awd bigger than those on the V70 GLT? WILL the 15" steel wheels work on my car? Thanks!
