auto trans 'misses shifts' V70-XC70 2002

About once a month, under medium throttle, when my auto trans fwd V70 is gaining speed and about to shift, it seems to miss a shift and rev up. I take my foot off the gas, the car shifts, and then it doesn't happen again for another say 2,000 miles. This is the regular auto trans, not the expensive one. What is going on, and how can I convince the dealer, when it won't malfunction for him? The car has about 25,000 miles.
