Reverse Lights Fail to Come On 850 1995

Jim or Anyone else who can answer this question-

This sounds kind of like my problem. In addition to my faulty reverse lights, I have also noticed, and yes I have an Automatic transmission, that if I put the car into a lower gear while it is still cold, and rev my motor too high 3, 4000 RPM - the upshift arrow starts flashing and the car will stick in 2nd gear I believe. It will stay stuck until I turn the car off and restart it. I will then have all my gears back, but the arrow will blink for probably teh rest of the day. Eventually it stops.

My question to you is - you said "if i let it go" that will happen to me. Is it too late to do some preventative maintenance. You said that the lubricant gets gunked up, well can't I just remove the old lube and lube it back up again? If not, and I need to replace the PNP switch, how much will the part cost me? Have you done this repair to your car?
