starting problem V70-XC70 2000

I've been having a different starting problem with my '98 V70, but can pass on what 2 different mechanics have suggested:
1) Coolant Sensor: apparently not likely because if there's something wrong it sends an error message
2) Mass Air Flow Sensor: see above
3) RPM Sensor (as you have already indicated)
4) Cam Sensor
5) Problem with a drop in fuel pressure (this applies to my problem but unlikely to yours).
