You are right, the wire you cut is the DRL trigger wire, which in some vehicles is connected to the parking brake. In those cars, the head lights will not turn ON until you release the parking brake. My corvette does that. However, in our Volvos, this wire may be connected to the ignition or a constant power source when the engine is running. I hope you can find this wire...
