Regular Unleaded in the S80 S80 2001

Try with fully warmed up engine in 2nd gear (MT or lowest in AT)full throtle up and down to about 5000 rpm (keep window open). If you still don't hear any knock/ping you an keep on using Regular.

In principle the knock sensors would detect knock and communicate that to the ECU which will command to retard ignition. But in extreme situations like decribed above you could be out of band width. In that case you should use premium.

regards,

Dutch
