Should I buy? 850 1994

KLA--your car is getting long in the tooth. If the dealer has to glue the edges down around the airbag I would have some serious reservations. Volvo highly recommends that after ten years you bring your car in and have the air cylinders on the bags either replaced or checked, and there are four of them. And I'm sure this service is going to be spendy. If you have to turn your head like me everytime you back up because of the wide back pillar, install the backup warning radar they made for the S/V-70's. It easily fits the 850 and is a God send, keeping you from backing into high curbs, other cars that sneak in behind you in parking lots, etc. I installed it on my 97 850 wagon and it saved me from three mishaps the first year. The system will cost you $304 from Volvo Houston (1-800-468-0041) and you'll wipe out a day installing it because you have to remove the bumper and drill some holes. But worth every penny and you get to know that end of the car. Ditto the self-dimming mirror made for the 70 models which also fit the 850's and keeps cars forever coming up on the back of you and blinding you. I installed mine at the same time I did the radar, paying around $130 for it. Today Volvo Houston sells the same mirror for $41! Not too many people bought it or knew about it. What a bargain! And very easy to install.

But, getting back to your car: unless it's a heckava deal, I would look for something with less than a 100K on it, a 95 or later Dick.
