This is a popular question right across the auto industry as original generation air bags are becoming ten or more years old. If I recall, Volvo has extended the "service" period to 12 or 15yrs. Can't remember exactly. I think what is happening is the industry are testing these air bags as they age and making the rules as they go along. Everyone agrees that their are no "servicable" items.
