Question on Towing...

I have a 1994 850 Turbo Wagon. I have motorcycles (and "stuff") I need to tow, generally 1 or 2 dirt bikes. I have a very, very small 4x8 trailer that weighs about 250lbs. I want a larger trailer and have the opportunity to buy a buddy's very clean 6x12 trailer. He guesses it weighs about 1000 lbs.

I am concerned, I know what the 850s are "rated" for towing, but I am interested in what amount of weight I can tow SAFELY for the long haul. I don't want to damge the drivetrain (engine, transmission, CV joints, etc.).

Thoughts ? Experience? Any mechanics in the house care to chime in ???

Thanks in advance,
Barry
