CD changer problems 850 1997

anyone have problems with their cd changers? i have a 97 850 with a sc-811 head unit and and 6 disk cd changer. my changer just stopped responding one day. it takes the cd into the drive, but when i try to press "cd" on my head unit there is no response. i tried checking the connections, but still the same. i am wondering if it could be my head unit, if so i will jsut replace it with another factory head. Anyone with advice let me know.
