How to remove rear door lock mechanism? 850 1995

My volvo is a 1995 850GLT sedan. I need to replace the driver side rear door lock mechanism because the door lock switch always indicates the door is open. I removed the door panel and then the black pastic that covers the lock mechanism. I also removed the two screws that hold the lock mechanism in place and the screw that holds the bottom of the window channel. I could not get the mechanism out because the window channel was still blocking it. How do I remove the window channel? What else do I need to remove in order to getting the lock mechanism out? Thanks.
