Key wont come out of ignition S40-V40 1999

Any one help? My key will not come out of the ignition it stops in pos 2 and you cannot turn to get it out. problem started a few weeks ago and if you waited a few minutes you could turn it but now you can wait hours ( or overnight) and the it turns the final position to get it out. The car is automatic could it be somthing to do with the P position on the gear box? any ideas please?
