Anything else to check before I order $180 wiper motor? Easy question for electrical gurus 850 1995

Wipers quit on me this morning, just stopped. At nearest gas station I checked fuse, OK. Tonight I listened for relays making noises dependant on stalk position. It was coming on and off at right times but wipers aren/'t budging. So if switches are working on stalk and relay makes noises then is motor bad? Or can failed relays make simialr noises? I just paid hundreds of dollars to get these wipers working at Sacramento Volvo Service. The wiper arm attachment was stripped and the whole carriage needed replacing. I noticed the wipers made a little different movement at end of cycle. the wipers go down to bottom of glass then "park" themselves up 3 inches. Worked like this for past 6 weeks. Is there any cause and effect or just ironic timing for another expensive part? Thank you for sharing your ideas, expertise and experience. 1995 850 turbo wagon 103,000 miles
