Replacing S40 Antenna........ S40-V40 2003

I too am having problems with my antenna. It's been cold this year in NJ and my antenna too has froze a few times. Before I get in my car, I try to clear it off, having a power antenna a few years back on another car I owned (which too broke). Now I get a very loud banging sound when it raises and lowers completely. Has anyone replaced their antennas with a rubber/flex mounted one or totally installing a new power metallic antenna?
