transmision flush 850 1994

I heard that volvo originally did not recommend it to extend the service intervals, but when trannys started to go bad, they shortened the interval. It's an easy DIY job, www.ipdusa.com has a kit with hoses for about 12.00. I would change it out. It makes sense that if the fluid doesn't look new, it can;t be providing the same protection as new. Your fluid is probably dark brown/red, versus cherry syrup red of new fluid. It's not like motor oil that goes black pretty early but is Ok, it stays red for quite some time.
