Advice re: use of car seat in third row, etc. V70-XC70

My wife and I are looking at 2002 - 2003 low mileage 2.4Ts and T5s, and I have several questions. First, how much additional performance benefit do you think we'd get from a T5? I know the specs, but am asking for driving impressions from someone familiar with both models. Second, we're looking for a new car because we're having a third child, and thus need a car that will fit three car seats. We have no interest in a minivan or SUV. Can anyone provide input on using the third row seat in a V70 to install a car seat? Our car seats are large, and I don't think they'll fit three across in the 2d row. Also, are there any other imports we're overlooking that have a car-seat accomodating third row seat? Finally, we could purchase a 2004 2.5T, but the savings from buying a low mileage one or two year old car are very attractive to us. Is there anything about the 2004 model changes that would steer us strongly toward it? Thanks in advance for any insights.
