IAC Hum/Buzz 850 1997

Does anyone have a clue as to what would cause the IAC to buzz or hum with the ignition off? My '97 T5 ran the battery down overnight while just sitting in the garage. After a jump start and recharge at idle for a half hour or so, I shut the car off and the IAC was buzzing like crazy. It quit after a few minutes, but my money says this is what ran the battery down. It also did this one more time for a minute or so, after a couple of start/shutdown cycles.

BTW, the charging system is working fine, the 2-month-old battery checks out okay. I've downloaded the computer, no codes stored.

Help! Do I need a new IAC, or is there something else gone stupid here? For starters, I don't understand why the IAC would have power to it with the ignition off. Doesn't pass my logic test.

Thanks in advance!
