Headlight failure 1999 V70 T5 Wagon? V70-XC70 1999

Recently purchased 99 V70 T5. Loving it so far, but my wife just drove to the store and informed the headlights are no longer working. Not all true... When switch is in "on" position for lights, they work if you "press in" and hold the knob. Very weird, but she is right, the lights will not come on correctly. Will be discussing with dealer we purchased from, but any simliar experiences/fixes/known problems? Am I missing something really simple? Thanks.
