Remote Key Lock Not Working 850 1993

Can't help you on the remote, though I have one dead remote for my 97 850 wagon. I too replaced the batteries, reprogrammed it (worked for a couple of times afterwards and then quit), beat it on the bumper . . . all to no avail. Will go look for another one on ebay or a junkyard.

As to the rear window not going up--I seriously doubt a new fuse is going to help. I've driven 240's for a long time and sooner or later a window would go down from the master control but not come up, but would if you toggled the switch in the door for it. This got so bad that finally I took all the switches out and disassembled them. The little contact points were all corroded. It was amazing what a tiny little burned speck on the end of a point would do for not letting any electricity pass. You have to either buy a new switch (expensive) or go to a wrecking yard and hope you're getting one that doesn't have corroded points or, learn how to remove and repair them, which is the cheapest and easiest one to do. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to get one out or take it apart. You will discover inside the switch is a tiny ball bearing with a little spring rocker arm on it at the ends of which are the contact points. Scrape the points at each end of the spring clip and where they make contact in the housing, reassemble, reinstall and you've cured the problem. The problem with the switches will only get worse as you use the windows, first one window going down and then not up from the master switch, then two, etc. Once you start in on the switches, do ALL of them for the whole car, including all of those in the master switch assembly and all those that still work. The switches Volvo uses in the 240, 740, 940 and 850's are basically all the same. Same principle, same problems. Dick
