Looking at a 850 850

Oliver, I own a 95 850T wagon w/ 106K. As with any car this age, I would highly recommend purchasing the one that has better documentation of service. Both of these vehicles should have had the timing chain (70K) replaced. Some common complaints that you see surfacing on this board include PNP switch, evaporator, rear main, seat heaters, and then your normal array of wear items. I would add that I, and many other 850 owners, have not experienced any of these major issues but they are things to watch out for. I would also look to see if either of the transmissions have been flushed during the life of the car. There seems to be a good correlation between transmission maintenance and longevity. As far as the actual years that you are looking at, I think both the 95 and 96 are above average reliability for the production run. Best of luck!
