automatic transmission question V70-XC70

We reecntly purchased a 1999 cross country with an AT. The car has 57K. We test drove it around town and it was great. I took it up a long hill during the test drive at about 50mph and it shifted smoothly. This past weekend we took a long trip on the highway and I noticed a "thump" when it does the final shift getting up to 70mph, this also occurs when decelerating.

No clicking or noise when turning in a tight radius, no whine, all other shifts are hardly noticeable .

Has anyone encountered a similar condition?
Thankyou.
Regards
Ed
