How accurate is 'distance to empty'? 850

Funny, It just happened to me.. XC90 parked in my driveway. Had 30 km left to empty when I left it the night before. Started it in the morning( with auto starter)When I went out it was off with the lights on ??? Ran out of GAS, It didn't want to start.. Called the Volvo assistance( wanted to try it out) took them 4 hours to get to my house... tow truck pulled it to the middle of the street where it was level.. Got in and started it...I then drove it to the station ..still reading 30 km to empty ???? I guess it was the driveway tilt..
So, now it's always at half or full... Car runs no problem ..
Tony
