????855,854,954,GTA???? 850

The first number in a model is the series number, 2's, 4's (Europe), 7's, 8's, and 9,s. Second number is the number of cylenders. Ive never heard of a 900 series with a 5 cylender engine. Usually 6, sometimes 4. And as mentiond the last number is the amount of doors.

This all changes however with the new S and V series.

Check this page out (http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/VolvoModDesignations.htm) it explains it all.

EDIT: I saw the car on ebay that you are referring to. Its too hard to tell in the pictures the trim level, (GLT, GLE) but there is no GTA 854's. Thinking he made a typo!!
