Alpine S630 CD Changer 850 1996

So... after surfing all the .net sites, I am led to believe that the "original" Volvo CD changer is made by Alpine. So... considering this to be a shoe-in, I go to the local audio store and purchase a S630 (upgrade to the OEM), pull the panels in the wagon rear left to find the pre-wired connectors and lo... there it is, a Male mini-DIN 8-pin. Too bad the Alpine (with required adapter) too has a, you got it, Male mini-DIN 8-pin. Many phone calls later reveal that "No, nothing like that ((female to female)) is available. So... (grumble, grumble), if the changer is made to "fit" with the original, how come it doesn't? The solution: (as offered by the experts), plug the adapter into the radio, connect the l o n g cable and run it to the rear, preferably alongside the existing, pre-wired cable. Redundant? Hopefully, all the carpet and trim pieces will cooperate.
