How accurate is 'distance to empty'? 850

I learned the hard way- and was told by the dealer- never to trust or rely on this. I ran out- luckily right in front of my neighbour's driveway... But it was freezing out, 9:30 at night and i was alone with my 7 year old. The reading went from 50 kms left, to 10, back to 40, then to 20- in the space of 20 minutes of driving. Never, ever drive for long once the light goes on. I have pushed it for years and have driven for 2 days in that condition! But never again.

So, unless you need a cold weather workout- I wouldn't push it. Yea, lived on the edge since '98 with this vehicle-guess I'll live on the edge in another way- hehehehe
