temperature sensor replacement V70-XC70 1998

I got a CHECK ENGINE light and went to the dealer to have it checked out. They told me I needed a temperature sensor as well as a new thermostat to correct the problem. Not wanting to spend the $200.00+ to have them do it I opted to do it myself. My problem is, where it the $#&^&$*#% thing? Is it a big job to replace. I feel it must not be a big job as the cost including parts, labor, fluids... was a bit over $200.00. ( possibly 1.0 hour labor ) Can someone tell me where to find the sensor and the thermostat? Is there a service manual on-line??
Thanks
