What trailer hitch should I get for 96 850R? taillamp converter? 850 1996

I am planning on towing a 1200-lb (+trailer) boston whaler with my 96 850R, but I'd like some opinions on what hitch to get for the car. It seems like a drawtite 3500-lb-max class-II hitch ($100) is the way to go - just want some opinions before I go for it. No cutting of the rear bumper is necessary, correct? Not sure if the R bumper is any different than the standard 850 bumper. I was planning on securing with master locks at both the receiver and the trailer - anyone know if their brass receiver lock is ok? Also I was thinking of getting IPD's taillamp adapter thing for the trailer lights.

I'm also assuming that ~2000lbs won't hurt the car, correct me if i'm wrong.

opinions? opinions?
