Re: stuck glove box 850 1995 850

<<
I just replaced mine on Saturday morning. Glove box latch kit, part # 681822-4, $38.41 and lock brace, part # 6818223-7, $4.25, minus a 10% VCOA discount.

Pry the glove box lid away with a pry bar wrapped in a rag. I inserted 2 pieces of thick cardboard from the back of a note pad in between the lid and the dash for added protection. Cut the lock brace. I used a small hacksaw, one of those one-handed type that the blade sticks out of the end. Remove the glove box and then the lid and replace the parts with the new ones. Good Luck.

Thank you so much for this fix!! I borrowed the flexible hacksaw from a neighbor (he had exactly what I needed, the Stanley flexible hacksaw) and bought the parts from Volvo of Richardson (which I found on www.parts.com) for $47 including 3-day shipping.

Followed the instructions on this thread and everything went great!! You need allen wrenches for the glovebox. Also, one more thing to pay attention to: make sure the glovebox arms don't fall back into the area behind the glovebox, you may never see them again! One slipped out, and I was lucky enough to grab it before it fell too deep for me to retrieve it.

I can't remember when I have felt this satisfied about doing my own car fix! This saved at least $200 I'm sure! Thanks again for posting this fix...
