These symptoms have gone... 850

Dear All

I have a 93 850 GLT auto which I understand was a tricky year for auto boxes and mine does seem to have had some wierd problems. I was cleaning my throttle body today and took off all the vacumm hoses and cleaned them too.

When I disconnected the hose to the fuel pressure regulator I noticed a lot of black gunk up on the nipple of the FPR. I cleaned this off and the car has run great all day.

These were the symptoms:

- high idle speed (950 - 1000rpm) now 850 rpm
- downshifting too soon, now downshifts only down steep hills
- notchy up shifts, now smooth
- poor mileage (25 - 26mpg) now 28-29mpg

The car really is running ten times better. I am going to replace the fuel pressure regulator.
Matt
