Engine blow-by on 850T 850 1995

I understand that turbos do not have a flame trap, but, have an oil trap or oil separator. According to Haynes, you have to remove the intack manifold to replace the oil separator.

Has anyone had success flushing their engine with gunk prior to an oil change to clear potential blockage (oil trap) in lieu of replacing the oil trap?

Any other common causes for sudden engine blow-by coming from the oil cap?
