Please give me advise on how to lengthen life of S80T6 trans

I just upgraded from a '97 V70 T5 to a "01 S80 T6 which only has 14,664 miles to it. So far I haven't had the chance to floor the car since traffic here in the Philippines is so bad that the average speed everyone drives is 6 mph. After reading all the nightmares about the transmission can anyone advise me whether by using the geartronic in traffic and shifting manually from 1 to 2 give me a longer life on the tranny? Just thought thought that by doing this there will be less shifting since the average speed is 6 mph
