oil globules in coolant V70-XC70 1998

I noticed a few oil globules in my coolant a several months ago and just a few more recently, so the problem isn't serious yet. I'm wondering where, besides the head gasket, can coolant and oil exchange themselves? I had a similar problem on a VW that turned out to be an oil cooler gasket. Much, much cheaper than the head gasket. The car has 80k. Any knowledge of the possibilities would be appreciated.
