Trans problem 850 1993

Fault code 232 should have turned on the arrow warning light on the dashboard, if this has happened the transmission has reverted to limp home mode, 4th gear in D and 3rd in L. When starting off in limp home mode, shift leaver should be in L position to minimise transaxle wear. You need the extra revs because in D you are starting in 4th gear instead of the normal 1st gear.

Check out and remedy the “Speedometer signal missing” fault first, then clear the fault code from the diagnostic unit, if all is well you will see a blink code of 1-1-1 no fault. Once this has been done the ECM should revert back to normal operation.

Hope this helps.
