Tailgate and Headlight Switch Questions 850

Relatively new owner (2 weeks) here. I was wondering what purpose the headlight switch serves on my 95 850T Wagon since it has daytime running lights. The headlights are always on, as well as the parking lamps up front. I'm not sure why the switch has a Parking Lamp Mode as well as a Headlight On mode when all that either of these positions seem to do is turn on the dash lights and rear lights. If that is the case, it should just be an on/off switch, no need for both parking lamp and headlight on/off mode. On the same note, I gather since this car has daytime running lights, the green parking lamp light on the switch should always be on? Mine is.

As for the tailgate, how to I remove the panel on the wagon? Need to rip it off to install the anti-rattle kit. I have heard it is a one piece unit. I have noticed the top part by the 3rd brake light lifts up to release the clips, but what about the sides/lower carpeted part?

Thanx in advance for any info/help.

Keith
