replacing front door speakers

I have been trying to beef up the sound system in my car, and I want to replace the front speakers/dash speakers with a component set.

I was able to get the door off fine, but trying to figure out a way to mount my new speakers is proving difficult.
My first thought is to try and remove the the stock speakers from those brackets, but they are glued on pretty tight -does anyone have any tips on removal?

I also thought about constructing some custom brackets...has anyone ever done that before with sucsess?

Thanks
