v70 tailgate warning light intermittent

My guess is it's the latch part in the tailgate itself. I wanted mine repaired because I didn't want the tailgate to be come open while driveing. It might ruin someone's day if my dog came out of the back of my car and hit their windsheild. They might drop their cell phone or something.
